According to data recently released by the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (SECEX/MDIC), in June this year, Brazil's beef export volume set a record high. The cumulative export volume of beef in the first half of the year ranked second only after the same period last year, and China is still the largest customer of Brazilian beef.

The Brazilian website "farmnews" reported on July 9 that according to statistics, in June this year, Brazil's beef export volume was 192,700 tons, exceeding the same period in 2022 (152,400 tons) and setting a record high, but sales have declined; In the first six months, the cumulative export volume of Brazilian beef was 882,600 tons, a decrease of 4.9% from the first half of last year (927,900 tons), and the decline in export value was even worse.

This situation is related to price changes in the international market. According to SECEX/MDIC data, in June 2023, the average price of Brazilian beef on the international market will be US$5.05 per kilogram, which is lower than the delivery price in June 2022 and June 2021 (US$6.83 per kilogram and US$5 per kilogram respectively). 5.18), but higher than the June commodity delivery price between 2016 and 2020.

Among Brazil's main beef export destinations in the first half of this year, only Chile and Saudi Arabia saw an increase in trade volume compared with the same period last year.

Statistics show that in the first six months of this year, China imported beef worth US$2.6 billion from Brazil, and the trade volume fell by 29% year-on-year. In addition, the trade volume between the United States and Egypt also declined. So far, China is still in the leading position among Brazil's major beef purchasing countries, and its trade volume exceeds that of Brazil's second largest customer, the United States (US$225.6 million), by more than 10 times.

According to SECEX/MDIC estimates, in the second half of this year, the Brazilian beef export market will continue to grow, which will help maintain the previously released expectation of rising beef prices in the off-season.
