On 8 September 2023, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) No 2023/1712 authorizing Sunset Yellow FCF as a feed additive for cats and dogs, ornamental fish, ornamental birds for food and small rodents, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

In accordance with the conditions set out in the Annex, this additive is authorized as an animal additive in the category "sensory additive" and in the functional group "colorant". The authorization ends on September 28, 2033. These Regulations shall take effect on the 20th day as of the date of promulgation.
