Japan to revise food and food additives specification standards

On September 14, 2023, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare issued Proposal No. 495230156 to revise the specification standard for food and food additives. The main contents are:

 

(1) Prepare and revise the maximum residue limits of various agricultural and veterinary drugs such as isomylurea in some foods, as shown in the following table;

 

(2) Remove all current limits of two veterinary drugs, Clostebol and Tribromsalan, in food and change them to a uniform standard (0.01mg/kg);

 

(3) To exempt Bismuth subnitrate from the establishment of maximum residue limits in food.

 

The proposal is subject to a comment period ending October 14, 2023.
