On October 23, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Notice No. 138 of 2023, announcing that from now on, Chilean fresh stone fruits that meet the relevant requirements are allowed to be imported.
Fresh stone fruits include nectarine (Prunus persica var. Nectarina), peach (Prunus persica), apricot (Prunus armeniaca), and plum (Prunus domestica/Prunus salicina).
Fruit orchards, packaging plants, cold storage and cold treatment facilities exported to China shall be reviewed and filed with the Chilean Agri-culture and Livestock Service (Servicio Agricla y Ganadero) of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Chile (hereinafter referred to as the Chilean side), and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information shall include name, address and registration number, etc., in order to accurately trace the export goods when they do not meet the relevant requirements. The Chilean side shall supervise registered orchards, packaging plants, cold storage and cold treatment facilities, and provide the registration list to the Chinese side before the annual export season. After approval by the Chinese side, China will publish the registration list on its official website.
At the same time, the announcement also detailed the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements, plant quarantine certificate requirements.
