GACC updated the fruit access list, and Chilean peach and apricot started to export to China

On December 6, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) updated the list of fruit access and the list of enterprises allowed to export to China, and Chilean peaches and apricots were officially allowed to export to China.


In November, inspectors from the GACC’s Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine went to Chile for a technical visit to inspect orchards and packaging plants that applied for export to China. The list of enterprises released by GACC shows that 109 peach orchards and 39 packaging plants, 15 apricot orchards and 27 packaging plants were the first to obtain customs export codes.


According to the Chilean Office of Agricultural Research and Policy (Odepa), the national peach cultivation area in Chile in 2022 is 1,851.2 hectares, of which 53% are concentrated in the O 'Higgins region and 20% in the Valparaiso region. The area of apricot cultivation is 528.3 hectares, 39% in Valparaiso region and 32% in Metropolitana region.


From the perspective of exports, in 2022, Chile exported 270,000 tons of stone fruits, half of which were sold to the Chinese market. 59% are plums, 31% nectarines, 10% peaches and 0.38% apricots. The main export destinations are China (50%), with a total of 134,000 tons; The United States (19%), with a total of 52,000 tons.
