EU approved two novel foods

On 21 December 2023, the European Commission adopted Implementing Regulations (EU) 2023/2847 and (EU) 2023/2851 approving two new food products: apple cell culture biomass, partially hydrolysed protein from spent barley (Hordeum vulgare) and rice (Oryza sativa). The approval will come into effect from the 20th day after publication. The main points are as follows:
