EU intends to expand the use of isomalto oligosaeeharides as new foods

On February 5, 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued document No. 2024.8543, which intends to expand the scope of use of isomalto oligosaeeharides as new foods, and the specific requirements are as follows. 


It is intended to be used as a food supplement for adolescents (10-18 years old) and above with an allowable intake of 30 g/day and a total intake of 142 g/day. The document will enter into force on the date of its official publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
