US to develop industry guidelines for the removal application of automatic detention of imported aquatic products

On February 9, 2024, according to the U.S. Federal Register, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued Notice 2024-02838, proposing to develop industry guidelines for the automatic detention of imported aquatic products. Main contents:

 

(1) The main reasons for automatic detention of imported aquatic products include: adulterated aquatic products containing pathogens, veterinary drugs containing illegal use, mackerel toxins exceeding the standard;

 

(2) Specific requirements for the analytical methods of accredited laboratories for sampling testing;

 

(3) The method and content of submitting evidence related to the application for lifting the automatic detention of imported aquatic products.

 

The notice will be published in the Federal Register on February 12, 2024, following a 60-day comment period.
