On February 15, 2024, according to the Official Journal of the European Union, on December 8, 2023, the European Commission published Authorisation Regulation (EU) 2024/585, supplementing Regulation (EU) No 251/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council, amending the specific rules relating to the directive and designation of the composition of aromatic wine products. Specific revisions include:

(1) Ingredient list. The grape product used to obtain the flavored wine product shall be indicated in its ingredient list as "wine" or the name of the specific grape product used. Immediately following these terms are the ingredients of grape products listed in accordance with Article 48a of the Authorisation Regulation (EU) 2019/33 and indicated in parentheses. If the following ingredients are added to the base grape product before or during the bottling of the flavored wine product, they may be marked outside the brackets described in paragraph 1 as follows:

(a) "concentrated grape juice" and/or "improved concentrated grape juice" may be indicated by "concentrated grape juice";

(b) sulfites/sulfites, eggs and egg products, milk and milk products, may be represented by the terms set out in Part IA of the Annex to the authorisation Regulation (EU) 2019/33;

(c) Additives that fall within the category of "packaged gases" may be replaced by the specific term "bottled in a protective atmosphere". For the purposes of point (b) of the first paragraph, if the list of ingredients is made available electronically, these terms shall also appear once on the package or on the label attached to the package, immediately following the word "contains", along with any other substances or products used in the production of aromatic wine products that may cause allergies or intolerances. These terms may be accompanied by the relevant pictograms listed in Part IB of Annex to the Authorisation Regulation (EU) 2019/33;

(2) Transitional provisions. Stock flavored wine products labelled in accordance with the rules laid down in point (b) of Article 6a (1) of Regulation (EU) No 251/2014 between 8 December 2023 and 18 February 2024 May continue to be placed on the market until stocks are exhausted, even if they do not comply with the specific labelling requirements laid down in this Regulation;

(3) This Regulation shall enter into force three days after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be fully binding and shall apply directly to all Member States.
