India amended Food Safety and Standards Regulations

On February 6, 2024, the Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) announced that the “Food Safety and Standards Regulations” were passed at the 43rd meeting of the Food Supervisory Committee. The main contents are:

 

(1) Food enterprises do not have to go to different institutions for mandatory certification, only FSSAI certification is mandatory for food;

 

(2) Approved the first comprehensive food analysis methods manual to ensure regulatory compliance of food products;

 

(3) Approval includes standards for mead and alcoholic ready-to-drink beverages, standards for milk fat products, etc., where the fatty acid requirements for ghee apply to other milk fat products;

 

(4) Set standards for "Haleem" (dishes made from meat, beans, grains and other ingredients) as part of the standards for meat products.
