Imported fresh durian detected with excessive pesticide residues

On May 21, 2024, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a list of unqualified food products at the border, showing that a batch of fresh durian from Thailand was detected with pesticide residues exceeding the standard.

 

The notification shows that the name of the Thai manufacturer or exporter is CROSS-BORDER E-COMMERCE INTERNATIonAL (THAILAND) CO.,LTD. and the importer in Taiwan is Jue Yu Co.

 

It is understood that the batch of fresh durian was detected with pesticide residues of 0.03 ppm of Cyazofamid, 0.02 ppm of Methomyl, and 0.07 ppm of Procymidone; according to the standard for pesticide residue tolerances, the quantitative limit of the pesticide Cyazofamid and Methomyl is 0.01 ppm, and Procymidone should be not detectable, which is not in compliance with the provisions of Article 15 of Food Safety and Hygiene Administration Act.

 

The total amount of unqualified products is 2,532 kilograms, all of which were returned or destroyed.
