On June 25, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 73 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the importation of New Zealand fresh kiwiberry that meets the relevant requirements is permitted.

Kiwiberry orchards and packing houses should be registered with the Ministry of Primary Industries of New Zealand (hereinafter referred to as the New Zealand side) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information should include the name of the orchard and packing house, the registration number and the address (district or region), so as to facilitate accurate traceability in case the exported goods do not comply with the relevant regulations. Prior to the annual export season,  the New Zealand side shall provide the Chinese side with a list of orchards and packing houses, which will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs of China after the Chinese side has approved the registration.

At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements that need to be met for import, including packaging requirements, phytosanitary certificate requirements and so on.
