US government published sources list permitted to export wild/farmed shrimp to US

On June 11, 2024, according to the U.S. Federal Register, the U.S. Department of State published a list of countries, economies, and fisheries that are permitted to import wild shrimp into the U.S. Countries, economies, and fisheries not on the list are permitted to import farmed shrimp into the U.S. only farmed shrimp are permitted to import into the U.S. All shrimp imports into the U.S. are required to be accompanied by a DS-2031 Shrimp Exporter/importer Declaration.

 

China is not on the list. The list is effective as of the date of publication in the Federal Register. The main purpose of the U.S. move is to prevent shrimp fishing from jeopardizing the survival of endangered sea turtles.
