EU approved a modification of a traditional term in the wine sector

On 15 July 2024, according to the Official Journal of the European Union, the European Commission published Implementing Regulations (EU)2024/1920 and 1921, approving the amendment of traditional terminology in the wine industry in accordance with Article 115(2) of Implementing Regulation (EU)1308/2013. The main changes are as follows:

 

(1) Approval of amendments to the traditional terms "Oloroso" and "Palo Cortado" published in the Official Journal of the European Union. In general, Oloroso refers to Spanish sweet sherry, Palo Cortado refers to Palo Catel sherry;

 

(2) This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The Regulation is fully binding and directly applicable to all Member States.
