On September 8, 2024, the website of the Russian National Quality System (THEP) announced the results of the 2024 energy drink quality inspection, which studied 57 safety and quality indicators of energy drinks with 20 trademarks (hereinafter referred to as TM). Of these, 15 TMS are produced according to GOSTR52844-2007 "Non-alcoholic tonic Beverage", 1 TMS are produced according to technical specifications, and 4 TMS have no regulatory documentation. The following were also checked:

(1) Label failure: undeclared synthetic dyes were found. The manufacturer failed to mark the bright yellow "sunset" FCF (E110) and azorubin (E122) on the label. By law, the dye must not only be noted in the composition, but must also be accompanied by a note that negatively affects the child's concentration; Black Monster drinks produced in Ireland do not have Russian labels, while the law requires translations of ingredients, nutritional value, etc. Energy drinks do not contain L-carnitine, but say so on the label; The label does not indicate the presence of taurine, in fact it is present in the ingredients;

(2) Quality inspection failure. The presence of a beverage yeast and excessive thermophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms (QMAFAnM), which violate safety standards; The problem with many beverages is that they incorrectly indicate vitamin content. For example, an energy drink indicates the presence of vitamins C and B9, but in fact their levels are below the detectable limit; Vitamin B5, B12 and other vitamins do not match the listed content.
