October 8, 2024 - The Vietnam Customs Department has informed that on September 19, the Ministry of Health issued Circular No. 15/2024/TT-BYT, announcing the list of goods subject to imported food safety inspections. It is effective from November 2, 2024 onwards. The main contents are:
(1) Goods subject to inspection include: 1 food supplement, 391 food additives and 6 food containers and packaging materials (in direct contact with food);
(2) Provisions subject to safety inspection: if the classification of the commodity code on the list issued by the notice is inconsistent, the code shall comply with the requirements of the Customs Law; food and food additives that are not listed and marked in the list, the code marking shall be in accordance with the requirements of the Customs Law and, after customs clearance, the import and export organizations or individuals to the Ministry of Health (Food Safety Department) to submit the relevant supporting materials; not included in the list, but by the Ministry of Health (Department of Food Safety), the test, the inspection does not meet the requirements or by the Ministry of Health and other departments of early warning, strict inspection measures should be used;
(3) imported food products are exempted or not subject to national food safety inspection: those that have been included in the list but are in one of the cases stipulated in Article 13 of Decree-Law No. 15/2018/ND-CP (except for cases where there is a food safety warning); those that are on the list of goods but are not used for the production of food products, food additives or food processing aids.
