On December 11, 2024, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG Health and Food Safety) published its Health and Food Audit and Analysis Work Plan 2025, which shows the priorities of its control activities and the detailed activities planned for 2025.

It is planned that the EU will implement 259 planned control activities, complemented by “on-demand” control activities, the number of which cannot be estimated. The control activities will continue to focus on the priorities of the previous years and will start to focus on several priority themes in the multi-annual plans, with an increased emphasis on activities supporting One Health and the EU enlargement process. In the area of food safety, three new projects will be initiated on the safety of meat products, histamine in fish products and food safety culture. In the area of agri-food chain, 209 control activities are planned, which will address priority topics such as food and feed safety, animal diseases and plant pests, and animal welfare. A wide range of non-control activities will also continue, including networking activities with member countries, the Better Training for Food Safety (BTSF) program, management of the list of third-country food production facilities, coordination of enforcement actions against member countries, and inputs to the review or development of legislation in different areas or sectors.
