NDO – Vietnam wishes to boost the export of longan to the Chinese market as with the export of lychee recently amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh made the remarks at a working session with the Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam Hu Suojin on August 5.
The meeting aimed to remove difficulties regarding the im
port and export of agricultural products between the two countries, particularly the co
nsumption of Vietnamese lo
ngan in the Chinese market.
Deputy Minister Doanh expressed his hope that the Chinese Embassy, the Commercial Counselor, and relevant Chinese agencies will co
ntinue to work with Vietnam to ease difficulties in the im
port and export of agricultural products while the coro
navirus pandemic co
ntinues to develop in a complicated manner.
He noted that thanks to the effective collaboration of both sides, Vietnamese lychee from the recent crop sold well and Vietnam also wishes to promote the export of lo
ngan to China as well as many processed products which can be made from longan.
Commercial Counselor Hu Suojin said that the authorised agencies of both sides have collaborated to facilitate the clearance of agricultural products, particularly Vietnamese fresh fruit being exported to China.
Hu Suojin said that China co
nsumed over 60,000 to
nnes of Bac Giang lychee in the recent crop and that he has worked extensively with Hung Yen Province’s Department of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to foster the export of longan.
He affirmed that the Chinese Embassy is always willing to cooperate with the relevant ministries and sectors to remove difficulties for enterprises while co
ntacting major Chinese enterprises to boost the im
port of Vietnamese longan.

ngan this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, thus, trade promotion and co
nsumption of lo
ngan is facing difficulties.
Local growers are boosting their own sales channels and increasing the processing of lo
ngan products, he noted.
