According to Abrafrigo website on July 7, the latest statistics from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Eco
nomy of Brazil (SECEX) showed that Brazilian beef exports exceeded 880,000 tons in the first half of this year, a decrease of 3.2% year-on-year, and the value was US$4.084 billion, an increase of 4.4% year-on-year. In June, Brazilian beef exports were 165,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6%, and the value was US$837 million, a year-on-year increase of 13%.
As Brazil's leading destination of beef exporting, in the first half of this year, China im
ported a total of 519,000 tons of Brazilian beef, accounting for 58.9% of Brazil's total exports, with an im
port value of US$2.412 billion, which was similar to the same period last year. In June, China im
ported a
bout 101,000 tons of beef from Brazil. Although it was higher than the 87,200 tons in May, it was still 4.1% lower than the same period last year.
Among other major export markets for Brazilian beef, the United States, Chile, the Philippines, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates ranked second to sixth. im
ports in the first half of this year were 4.25 (111.3% year-on-year growth), 3.98 (16.9% growth), 2.93 (71.6%), 2.19 (-60.8%) and 19,600 tons (11.7%), respectively. In addition, in the first half of the year, 79 countries' beef im
ports from Brazil increased year-on-year, while 73 countries declined.
