Argentine media Ambito reported that on July 31, the Argentine fisheries and aquaculture department and Chinese officials held a virtual conference to exchange views on the cooperation between the two countries' fisheries and aquaculture industries.

According to the Argentine official, the virtual conference is an important milestone for the further promotion of Argentine aquatic products to the Chinese market. Carlos Liberman, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Argentina, Pablo Sivori, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Trade Strategy and Economic Promotion, Guillermo Abdala, Director of the National Aquaculture Agency, and Sabino Vaca, Argentine Ambassador to China attended the meeting.

Liberman said: “In the proposals and topics discussed at the conference, we emphasized the possibility of creating knowledge exchange, technological innovation, infrastructure construction, and training in the aquaculture industry. The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Aquaculture Bureau of Argentina reached an important consensus.”

Liberman said that this meeting is a new initiative to develop the Argentine national aquaculture production and commercialization cluster, plan project design and adapt to all stages of the production chain, and take advantage of the huge competitive advantages provided by China.

Under this framework, Argentina will send a domestic team to participate in the Guangzhou International Fisheries Expo, which will be held from September 24 to 26.
