Peru formulates technical standard for soft drinks

On January 10, 2021, the National Quality Agency (Inacal) of the Peruvian Ministry of Production officially released the soft drink technical standard NTP203.111:2021, which will be implemented immediately. The main contents are as follows:

(1) Soft drinks may contain part of the pulp of fruits and/or vegetables;

(2) Preservation of the products may be achieved by heat treatment, chemical, physical or other required methods;

(3) The water used to produce these products must comply with current national drinking water legislation;

(4) Vitamins can be added according to current specifications;

(5) Soft drinks should have a uniform color, odor and unique taste;

(6) Products must be free of pathogenic microorganisms that affect product safety and health risks;

(7) Labels for placing on the market must comply with current national laws. In addition, it should not have an ambiguous legend or describe unverifiable product characteristics.
