The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has imposed temporary restrictions on imports of poultry and poultry products near the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreak in Japan.
Due to the highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza outbreak in Aomori prefecture, Japan, the import of poultry and its products from Miyagi Prefecture will be temporarily restricted from April 8, 2022. Poultry products that meet the heat treatment requirements of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) for inactivation of avian influenza viruses will not be affected by the import restrictions.
To facilitate clearance of other poultry and poultry products, the following additional certificates should be included in the accompanying veterinary health certificate when importing poultry and poultry products:
A. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) H5 and H7 are notifiable diseases in exporting countries.
B. As defined by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), poultry of meat origin are not vaccinated against avian influenza H5 and H7 subtypes.
C. Poultry and meat products did not originate from Hiyojo and Aomori prefectures.
D. Poultry of meat origin were born, raised and slaughtered in Japan or day-old chicks legally imported from countries with similar poultry health status.
