The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry updated its requirements for garlic imports

On 13 July 2022, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued an update on the requirements for importing garlic for human consumption.  The certificate of origin and import Licence for garlic goods are required to be fully linked with phytosanitary Certificate or phytosanitary Certificate for re-export (if applicable). Namely the country of origin on the plant quarantine certificate must be consistent with the country listed on the import license.  The requirement went into effect on July 13.

Companies exporting garlic products to Australia should pay attention to the latest certification requirements.  According to the requirements of the relevant Australian Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Department, garlic products export to Australia used to need to deal with Australia's import license. Now the new rules further puts forward that before the goods exported to Australia, it is required that the country of origin on plant quarantine permit should be consistent with that listed on the import license.  Companies exporting garlic products to Australia should update the relevant contents of the Certificate of origin or phytosanitary Certificate in a timely manner.
