US chocolate and confectionery maker Hershey Co warned it would not be able to fully meet demand for Halloween candy in October, chief executive Michele Buck said in a statement.
"We will not be able to fully meet consumer demand," the GMA portal said, citing the company's profit and loss report for the second quarter.
Though the production process is accelerating, shortages of key ingredients such as cocoa, still emerge. the report said. This is due to supply chain difficulties caused by the situation around Ukraine.
Halloween candy accounts for about 10% of Hershey's annual sales, the newspaper noted.
In the United States, food and fuel prices have risen sharply. Gasoline prices in the United States hit a record $5.02 (3.785 L) per gallon in June, and while they have recently fallen to $4.66, this is still $1.50 higher than the same month in July 2021.
