South Korea issued a partial revision of the Food Additives Codex to revise the standards for the use of additives in food for infants and young children

On August 10, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Notice No. 2022-55 to revise part of the Food Additives Codex. The main contents are as follows:
 
1. To set a new standard for the use of Hydroxypropylmethyl Cellulose Phthalate for the production of enteric functional health food.
 
2. Modified the composition specifications of 5 additives including stevioside.
 
3. Modified the application standards of 71 additives such as calcium silicate and infant food.
 
4. Modified the main uses of 24 additives such as guar gum.
 
5. Modified the composition specification test method of 9 additives such as calcium glycerophosphate.
