On August 22, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 108 of 2024, announcing that from now on, imports of fresh coconuts from Vietnam that meet relevant requirements will be allowed.

The orchards and packaging plants of coconut exported to China shall be reviewed and filed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (hereinafter referred to as the Vietnamese side) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information includes name, address and registration number for accurate traceability in case of non-compliance with the relevant regulations. Prior to the commencement of trade, the Vietnamese side shall provide the Chinese side with the registration list, which shall be published on the website of the GACC and updated regularly after being reviewed and approved by the Chinese side.

At the same time, the announcement also detailed the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements, plant quarantine certificate requirements.
