Brazil proposed to amend the technical regulation on the quality and characteristics of fruit juices and pulps and their derived products

On August 30, 2024, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) issued Resolution SDA/ MAPA No 1173, which proposes to revise the Technical Regulation on the Quality and Characteristics of Fruit Juices and Pulses and their Derived Products (i.e., Normative Instruction No. 37 of 2018), with a comment period ending on October 14, 2024, to provide feedback.

  

The main contents of the revision are: deletion of the minimum content limit for total sugars for juice products and addition of a new maximum content limit of 14g/100g in Annex I (Physicochemical and quality criteria for products); deletion of the minimum limit for pH and total acidity for pulp products and addition of a new maximum limit (pH up to 4.5 and total acidity up to 0.5g/100g (in terms of citric acid content)).
