GACC Announcement No. 117 of 2024 (Announcement on Phytosanitary Requirements for Imported Burundian Coffee Beans)

On September 11, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 115 of 2024, announcing that from now on, Burundian coffee beans that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed to be imported.

 

Coffee Beans in this notice refer to unroasted and shelled coffee (Coffea Arabica L.) grown and processed in Burundi, which have been prepared by drying, screening and other processes after removing the outer skin, flesh, inner peel and silver skin.

The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of the Republic of Burundi shall inspect the production and processing enterprises of unroasted coffee beans exported to China, confirm that they meet the requirements of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side), and recommend them to the Chinese side. The Chinese side will conduct an audit and register the enterprises that pass the audit.

 

At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including production requirements, packaging and transportation requirements, and quarantine certificate requirements.
