GACC Announcement No. 123 of 2024 (Announcement on the Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for the Export of Cashew Nuts and Macadamia Nuts from Mozambique to China)

On September 14, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 122 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the import of Mozambique cashew nuts and macadamia nuts that meet the relevant requirements is permitted.

 

The Mozambican cashews and macadamias permitted for import are cashew trees (Anacardium occidentale L.) and macadamia trees (Macadamia ternifolia F. Muell., Macadamia integrifoliaMaiden & Betche,) grown in Mozambique. Macadamia tetraphylla L.A.S. Johnson) as raw material, in Mozambique, after selection, drying and other processing processes to produce shelled or unshelled cashew and macadamia nuts for human consumption.

 

Mozambique cashew and macadamia nut manufacturers shall ensure that their cashew and macadamia nuts exported to China comply with China's food safety and phytosanitary laws and regulations as well as China's national food safety standards. The production, processing and storage units of cashew nuts and macadamia nuts exported to China are recommended by Mozambique and registered by China.


At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the import needs to meet the relevant requirements, including processing requirements, packaging and labeling requirements, transportation requirements, certificate requirements and so on.
