GACC Announcement No. 124 of 2024 (Announcement on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Import of Fresh Avocado from Zimbabwe)

On September 18, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 124, 2024, announced that from now on, the importation of Zimbabwean fresh avocados meeting the relevant requirements is permitted.

 

Orchards, packing houses and fumigation treatment facilities for avocados exported to China must be audited by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Irrigation and Rural Development of the Republic of Zimbabwe (hereinafter referred to as the Zimbabwean side) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information includes the name, address and registration number for accurate traceability in case the exported goods do not comply with the relevant regulations. Prior to the annual export season, the Zimbabwean side shall provide the Chinese side with a list of registrations, which shall be published on the website of the GACC after review and approval.

 

At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the relevant requirements to be met for importation, including packaging requirements and quarantine certificate requirements.
