On October 3, 2024, Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency approved genetically modified soybean MON94637 for food, feed and cultivation. The GM soybean was developed by Bayer and is able to resist lepidopteran insects by expressing proteins derived from Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1A.2 and Cry1B.2 proteins. The GM soybean has been approved for food and feed use in Brazil.
