GACC Announcement No. 150 of 2024 (Announcement on Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Tanzanian Honey)

On October 25, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 150 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, Tanzanian honey meeting the relevant requirements is allowed to be imported.

 

The Tanzanian honey allowed to be imported refers to the natural sweet substance made by bees after collecting nectar, secretion or honeydew from plants and mixing it with their own secretion and brewing it thoroughly.

 

Processors of honey for export to China shall be registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of the United Republic of Tanzania shall examine the honey processing enterprises to be exported to China and recommend them to the Chinese side if they are found to be in compliance with the Chinese laws, regulations, standards and requirements of this Protocol. Unregistered honey processing enterprises are not allowed to export honey to China.

 

At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the relevant requirements to be met for importation, including inspection and quarantine requirements, production and transportation requirements, certificate requirements, packaging and labeling requirements.
