On 20 November 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 164 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the import of animal proteins and fats for feed from Finland that meet the relevant requirements is permitted.

The animal protein and oil and fat in this announcement refers to animal protein and oil and fat used as animal feed ingredients obtained from registered slaughterhouses of Finland of poultry and pig origin and made through certain processing techniques.

The production and processing enterprises of animal protein and oil for export to China are approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Finland and recommended to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side), and qualified and registered by the Chinese side.

At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the import needs to meet the relevant requirements, including production and processing requirements, packaging and labeling requirements, entry inspection and quarantine requirements.
