Russia published results of quality tests on mercury in food products for 2024

On 22 November 2024, the State Centre for the Safety of Aquatic Fisheries and Aquaculture Products  of  Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) released the results of a quality test on the level of mercury in food products.

  

Main points: From the beginning of January to 21 November 2024, the National Centre for the Safety of Aquatic Fishery and Aquaculture Products conducted tests on the content of mercury in samples of domestic and imported products, i.e. stingray fins, pike, mackerel, sockeye salmon, pollock, halibut, scallops, cod stomachs, shrimps, crabs, stingrays, shellfish, seeds, soya oil and other types of products, with a total weight of 1,115,000 tonnes, and 7,369 studies were carried out. A total of 7,369 studies were carried out and three positive results were obtained from laboratory tests.
