Philippines plans to import 25,000 tons of seafood to curb inflation

From SeafoodMedia, Philippine Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. has allowed the importation of 25,000 tons of frozen fish and other types of seafood, saying it is necessary to curb inflation.

  

In Memorandum Order No. 51, Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said 24,000 tons of the imported seafood includes imported salmon, squid, tuna, black cod, halibut and red snapper, while the remaining 1,000 tons is for small pelagic fish.
