The European Commission recently decided to revoke the marketing authorization for the fungicide fenpyrazamine ahead of schedule, and from January 15, 2025, the use of this fungicide will no longer be allowed in the EU.

Fenpyrazamine has prophylactic, therapeutic and antispore-forming properties against pathogens such as Staphylococcus, Candida and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. This active ingredient was previously used primarily on cherry, strawberry and peach trees, and the registration was extended until May 31, 2026, pending final approval. However, the applicant company did not support the application.

The European Commission stated that the extension of the registration was no longer justified and that a new deadline should therefore be set as soon as possible to give Member States enough time to withdraw the registration of plant protection products containing the active substance. As a result, the registration deadline has been shortened to January 15, 2025.
