GACC Announcement No. 183 of 2024 (Announcement on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Importation of Brazilian Sesame)

On December 9, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 183 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, Brazilian sesame seeds meeting the relevant requirements are allowed to be imported.

 

Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) in this announcement refers to non-seed sesame seeds grown and processed in the territory of the Federative Republic of Brazil for food or food processing purposes.

 

Brazilian sesame processing and storage units exported to China should be registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of the Federative Republic of Brazil (hereinafter referred to as the Brazilian side) shall recommend in advance to the Chinese side to meet the requirements of the enterprise, recommending the enterprise information to include the name of the processing unit, registration number, address, etc. The Chinese side will be registered after inspection or examination, and will publish a list of relevant enterprises on the website of the General Administration of Customs of China.

 

At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the import needs to meet the relevant requirements, including production requirements, packaging and transportation requirements, product requirements, pre-export inspection and quarantine and certificate requirements.
