On December 5, 2024, the Mongolian Bureau of Technical Standards (BTS) developed a standard for edible sea buckthorn oil, MNS 0783:2024, with a call for comments until February 2, 2025.
Main contents: product classification and its terms and definitions, general requirements of the product (no food additives shall be used during production and packaging, etc.) and specific physical and chemical indexes, requirements for heavy metal limits (lead <0.1mg/kg, arsenic <0.008mg/kg, mercury <0.003mg/kg), packaging (containers are made of materials such as metal-glass-polymer and the capacity of the large containers shall not be more than 10L, and the capacity of the retail containers shall not be more than 0.5L. Retail packaging containers not more than 0.2L of dark glass bottles), transportation, storage (storage period of up to 18 months) and testing standards.
