Statistics: Exports of Korean bakery products hit a new high in November this year

According to a set of data released by the South Korean Customs Service (Customs) on the 24th, the export volume of bakery products in the first 11 months of this year increased by 8.3% year-on-year to 404 million US dollars, a record high for the same period in the previous year.

 

By category, biscuits accounted for 72.5% of exports, followed by bread (15.1%), food ingredients (12.4%), and so on, all categories of exports set a record for the same period in the past year. In particular, the export of bread products increased by 18.9 percent year-on-year, mainly due to the strong export performance of Korean specialties such as crucian carp cake and bean buns. In terms of export destination, the U.S. ranked first with 33.5 percent, followed by China (11.3 percent) and Japan (9.5 percent).

 

According to the Korea Customs Service, the global popularity of Korean culture and Korean cuisine, as well as the active development of new products and local marketing by food companies, have boosted the global competitiveness of Korean bakery products.
