In 2024, Brazil's beef exports increased by 26% to 2.89 million tons, the highest ever recorded for the industry.
According to data compiled by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), compiled by the Brazilian Meat Export Industry Association (Abiec), revenues from beef exports reached $12.8 billion, an increase of 22% over 2023 revenues, EXAME reported.
The sector is crucial to Brazil's trade surplus, which reached $74.6 billion last year, according to the organization. Roberto Perosa, president of Abiec, said: "Although it is too early to make predictions, I am confident that 2025 will be a record year for both volume and value."
The United States was second, importing 229,000 tons and generating $1.35 billion.
Other key markets include the United Arab Emirates, which bought 132,000 tonnes, generating $604 million; The European Union, which bought 82,300 tons, generating $602 million; Chile, which bought 110,000 tons and generated $533 million; Hong Kong, China, bought 116,000 tons, generating $388 million.
The top 15 sales destinations for Brazilian beef accounted for more than 90% of total sales, an increase over the previous year. Countries such as Algeria, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, the United States, Russia and Israel have seen the most significant increases.
During the year, the industry exported to 157 countries and territories, including all categories of beef products. On the other hand, chilled beef (beef exported or sold in its natural state), which accounts for more than 90% of total exports, was exported to 132 markets, an increase of 46 markets over the past decade.
