The Australian Government Revises Food Regulations for Special Medical Uses
On March 5, 2021, the Australian government issued the F2021C00198 Announcement, revising the food regulations for special medical purposes in the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Regulations. The main revisions are as follows:
1. Foods used for obesity or overweight or infant formulas are not foods for special medical purposes;
2. Revise the inner packaging requirements;
3. Revise some mandatory labeling requirements, allergen declarations (lactose and gluten) and labeling requirements.
