On 20 September 2022, the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette published Notice F2022C00936 amending the Australian and New Zealand Codex Standard 1.2.1 (the Common Standard for Food Labeling). The main contents of the revision include:
(1) If there is a non-English language on the food label, the content or information shall not be inconsistent with the English content or information;
(2) It is stipulated that the font height of warning words on small package food labels should not be less than 1.5mm, and that of warning words on non-small package food labels should not be less than 3mm.
The revision takes effect from the date of publication in the government Gazette.
