Overall, Chile exported 31.4 million cases of wine in the first seven months of this year, up 3% from a year earlier, and already more surpassed all the totality of 2021 combined, with exports of $923 million, up 2.1% from a year earlier.
Notably, Chilean wine exports to China fell 24% and 22% in July from a year earlier due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, China remains Chile's top market for wine exports value, while Brazil is the top market for Chilean wine exports volume.
Still, a total of 7.1 million cases of Chilean wine worth $255.8 million were shipped to China in the past 12 months (August 2021 to July 2022), accounting for 13% of Chile's total bottled wine exports. In the analysis period, it ranks second only to Brazil (14%).
