Taiwan Import risk tip: a batch of Vietnamese fish sauce was found to contain preservatives does not conform to the regulations

On October 18, 2022, a batch of fish sauce from Vietnam was found to contain preservatives that do not comply with regulations, according to a list of substandard food items released by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration.

 

According to the notice, the manufacturer or exporter in Vietnam is CTY TNHH MOT THANH VIEN DICH VU THUONG MAI DAI THUAN TAI, and the importer in Taiwan is Qian Yu Co., Ltd. under the brand name DAI THUAN TAI.

The preservative propionic acid 0.9g /kg was detected in this batch of fish sauce. The manufacturer provided that this ingredient was naturally produced during the fermentation process, but the detected value was higher than the relevant information provided by the manufacturer. According to the provisions of "Scope of use and limit of food additives and specification standards", the products in the case are not listed in the list of permitted food scope, this case does not comply with the provisions of Article 18 of the food Safety and health Administration Law.

 

A total of 1302.60 kg of unqualified products were returned or destroyed.
