South Korea has issued a draft of partial amendments to the Food Additives Code

On October 31, the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Notice No. 2022-485, proposing to amend part of the Food Additives Code. The main contents are as follows:

 

1. Develop standards for the general use of enzyme preparations.

 

2. Delete 1 duplicate synthetic flavor in synthetic flavor substances, add 4 synthetic flavor aliases such as Fenchol.

 

3. Develop the use standards of methyl cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and other 3 additives.

 

4. Modify the composition specification test method of 10 additives such as sodium alginate.

 

The above comments will be solicited until December 30, 2022.
