On August 25,2022, the National Health Commission issued an announcement on the update of the "List of Strains that Can Be Used in Food" and the "List of Strains that Can Be Used in Food for Infants and Young Children". A 2-year transition period was set for the adjustment of strainsl species classification and nomenclature in the list.
The updated list retains the Chinese and Latin names of the original list, which is convenient for strain users and managers to consult. During the transition period, both the old and new strain names can be used, and the updated name must be used after the transition period expires. See Tables 1 & 2 for details.
