On November 30, 2022, the Japan Consumer Affairs Agency issued a notice to revise the Food Labeling Standard. Major revisions include:

(1) Walnuts are to be included in the list of allergen ingredients that should be labeled on food labels;

(2) The inclusion of GM oilseed rape (genetically modified to produce docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid) as "specific GM Products" and the distribution of food products made from such GM oilseed rape will be permitted.

The revision feedback period is 60 days from the date of publication.
