On November 28, 2022, the National Institute of Quality of Peru (INACAL ) issued a circular on the Implementation of the Octagonal Label for Pre-packaged Processed Foods (GP110:2022). The guidelines are applicable to domestic and imported processed food and non-alcoholic beverages in Peru. The main contents are as follows: When the content of sugar, sodium, fat and trans fat in pre-packaged processed food exceeds the normal intake standard of consumers, the label should be marked with the octagonal mark(with excessive nutrient categories marked inside the octagon) to remind consumers to avoid excessive consumption; In addition, the guidelines also specify the labeling requirements of the octagon mark, including clear, prominent, easy to read, the color of the mark should be black and white, and should be marked on the maximum display surface of the label.

The guidelines are effective from the date of publication.
