On 14 December 2022, the Brazilian Government Gazette issued Directive No. 197, amending the List of Plants Permitted for tea and Spices. The main contents of the revision are:

(1) Holly has been added to the list of plants allowed to be used as tea, and the edible parts are leaves;

(2) Supplement that when raspberry leaves are used as tea, warnings such as "patients with liver or kidney disease should consult a doctor before consuming this product" and "do not consume this product continuously for more than 4 weeks" should be prominently marked on the product label;

(3) Stipulate that stevia leaves, when used as tea, shall not be consumed alone, but only in conjunction with other approved plant teas.
