Turkey to issue Food Codex Regulation on Microbiological Criteria

On January 10, 2023, Turkey issued notification G/SPS/N/TUR/132, and the General Directorate of Food Control/Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food proposed to revise the "Turkish Food Codex Regulation on Microbiological Criteria". The new regulations cover food microbiological standards and rules that food operators must comply with, and the main contents include:


1. Annex I - Food Safety Criteria;

2. Annex II - Process Hygiene Criteria;

3. Annex III - Limits of Pathogenic Microorganisms;

4. Annex IV - Rules for Sampling and Preparation of Test Samples.


The new regulation is intended to be promulgated on July 15, 2023 and replaces the Turkish Food Codex Regulation on Microbiological Criteria (No. 28157) published in the Official Gazette on December 29, 2011.

The deadline for commenting on the above notification is June 15, 2023.
